A few weeks ago, we went and saw Ironman with some friends. Um, best movie ever!!! Robert Downey Jr. is a H-O-T-T-I-E!

Totally recommend this movie.

The Scar

Well, it's official... the steri-strips that were used for Sadie's incision have fallen off! I thought I would try to take some pics of her scar, sorry if they aren't that good, I tried.

If you notice, you can see a scab at one end... that's the end where the tube was.

I keep worrying that any second, I'll hold her the wrong way and her scar will open up again, so I just have to remind myself that in real-life, that shouldn't happen. :)

We're Home!

Can I just say that I don't think I have ever been that excited to come back home to Rexburg as I was driving home yesterday. I got choked up around Blackfoot, knowing I would be home in only a few hours. :)

Sadie had her drainage tube removed yesterday. The doctor said that her incision looks good and that she will be "water-ready" by tomorrow. He did advise us that this may be the more difficult part of the healing process. Like he said, her kidney has been operating on 0% pressure. Normal range is between 5-12%. In other words, she's gonna feel like an adult would feel if they were to get a kidney stone. Poor baby. All in all, she seems to be doing well. In fact, in a matter of days after the surgery, she was starting to try to roll over! YAY!

Aiden is doing well. He got a really bad sore throat while we were down there but he's all better now. It's very difficult taking care of a sick toddler while trying to prep a baby for surgery, let me tell you... He is so happy to be home too. It's fun hanging out with family but he was ready to go home about a week ago.

Trevor is back to work so that's kinda wierd since I've been with him pretty much 24/7 for the past 3 weeks. But we are all grateful that his employer was so understanding.

We go back down to Utah in June for an ultrasound to make sure the surgery worked. While the hard part is over, we have a long road of tests and more tests ahead of us. Thank-you everyone for your prayers and support, we appreciate it more than you will ever know.

The Latest

So, we talked to the doctor this morning and if Sadie adjusts well to being off the "morphine" drip (she keeps eating, sleeping, overall just not too fussy) then we can go home at noon. YAY! We are all in serious need of going home.

She's out...

They finished the surgery about 11:55 am. So, it wasn't too bad. The surgeon said that the kink in her uretur was VERY tight and he was pretty sure that they would have had to intervene at some point. But her kidney looked good, just VERY dialated (the emphasis is literally how the doctor empashized).

Right now we are just letting her sleep. She hasn't eaten but they are giving her plenty of fluids so we don't need to worry about that. She is very puffy and a little white, but all of her vitals say everything is working.

What we know now is that she will have to have the drainage tube in for at least 6 days (it's a little catheter that will drain fluids into her bladder but the other end sticks out of her back and into a diaper). She will also have to have an ultrasound every month for a few years.

Here's Sadie in the Infant Medical Surgical Unit; she is still coming out of her anesthesia.

Awww, Trevor is comforting her. We were just trying to get her all hooked up to her "morphine" drip in the IMSU.

I was trying to get a good shot of all of the things she had attached to her.

The "morphine" drip is working, and Sadie is falling asleep. She's had a hard day.

The bloody shot: Where it is reddest is where the catheter comes out of her kidney and drains into her diaper. If you look really closely, you can even see the catheter.

2 hours into surgery...

Like my updates?

So, the nurse that was assigned to Sadie called probably 45 minutes ago to let us know how things were going. So far her vitals are fine, they have her very closely monitored, and they are just trudging along.

Wish I knew more, cuz my brain keeps wandering and this knot in my stomach just keeps growing. Oh well.

10 min. into the surgery...

Ok, so Sadie went into surgery about 10 minutes ago. She was such a brave little girl. And for being very hungry, she really wasn't all that fussy. I did ok until they had to take my little girl away from me, than I lost it. Here are some pics so far:

I wanted to document the whole process, so here's the same-day surgery entrance.

They used Sadie's leg to check her blood pressure and her big toe to keep up on her oxygen level.

Here's her surgical outfit they put on her, cute hunh? She totally loves it because it's free-flowing and she can grab the bottom and put it in her mouth. HEHE.

Had to get a pick of me and my baby! Selfish moment: check out my new-do!

Sadie and her daddy. If you notice, I had to take her earrings out for this and I am just praying they will go back in!

Here, the surgeon is marking her RIGHT kidney, haha, just to make sure we fix the broken one not the working one. :)

Yup, daddy does look funny!

I have no idea, what's coming, can't you tell?
